Latest Garmin Forerunner 965 leak reveals redesigned map and system UI
New details for Garmin’s upcoming smartwatch, the predecessor 965has been leaked by another hasty online store, giving us our first look at the device in high resolution.
Pictures come from SwimOutlet swimwear retailer (opens in a new tab) show off the device in two different colors: metallic black and bright green gold. At a glance, it seems that the bezel around the watch face is smaller than the Forerunner 955. The extra space is presumably for the new 1.4-inch AMOLED display that the upcoming watch is supposed to feature. Other photos reveal how the system user interface will look on the device, such as more information displayed at once on the home screen. The map feature has also been revamped. This time, step-by-step directions take up less space on the Forerunner 965’s watch face, making it easier to see where you’re going when using the map.
Other than that, not much else is revealed in the SwimOutlet listing. Don’t know what other features, new or return like electrocardiogram app, will be available on the Forerunner 965. However, there is a price tag for the smartwatch: $599.99 making it cheaper than initially anticipated. The release date is still a mystery though a screenshot from iRun.Fr website (opens in a new tab), a French online fitness retailer, hints at a launch date of March 2, which is less than a week away. But even that date is controversial as others have claimed that it is indeed March 14.
Garmin Forerunner 265 leaked
Besides the Forerunner 965, some new marketing images of the upcoming model Forerunner 265 and 265s duo also leaked (opens in a new tab). Very little information has been revealed other than the variety of colors the two devices will have. The Forerunner 265 will be available in black/gray, navy and white stone while the smaller 265s model comes in a striking black and gold color combination, pale pink and lighter white football.
It is worth noting that both watches will launch with AMOLED displays. This is backed up by previous leaks, but without official confirmation, it’s hard to say for sure. Specs wise, nothing else has leaked that hasn’t been covered yet. Previous rumors said the Forerunner 265 had a battery life of “up to 13 days in smartwatch mode”. [or] 20 hours in GPS mode” and will cost around $449 to $499 – depending on the region.
Of course, take everything here with a grain of salt. Things can always change at the last minute. However, given the frequency of these leaks over the past month or so, we probably won’t have to wait long for Garmin to announce something.
