Latest Elden Ring Patch Adjusts Magic, Spell, and Weapon Skill Balance

Elden Ring is no stranger to Update after launch. There are more weapons and spells than we can count, and players have discovered a lot of powerful things (considered too strong) the ability to destroy the Great Enemy of the open world adventure. Like previous patches, the latest Version 1.04 of Elden Ring focus on stabilizing and balancing the loop by tweaking spells, spells, and weapon skills.

According to Bandai Namco’s official note, the main changes included in 1.04 prioritize adding an option to disable camera auto-rotation and event stages for everyone’s favorite scammer, the Patch. There are also some key gameplay tweaks such as increased attack speed/cooldown reduction for Colossal weapons and a slight increase in FP and Stamina gain at lower levels – the latter option could be useful useful for sadists who love Wretch. Other adjustments include, but are not limited to:

  • Increases Colossal Swords / Colossal Weapons two-handed attack damage. Does not include attacks.
  • Increases physical block ratio and increases protection of Colossal Sword, Colossal Weapons, Great Sword, Great Hammer, Great Ax, Great Spear and Halberd weapons.
  • Increases Grafted Blade Greatsword’s damage.
  • Increases Devourer’s Scepter damage.
  • Decreased rate of accumulating status effects from Albinauric Scepter spells and spells and Dragon Communion Seal.
  • Reduced Greatshield Talisman’s effect on high block ratio weapons.

Some buffs and nerfs of Sorcery, Incantation and Weapon skills are as follows:

Let it up

  • Rennala’s Full Moon – Cast speed increased and cooldown reduced.
  • Ranni’s Dark Moon – Cast speed increased and cooldown decreased.
  • Carian Greatsword – Cast speed increased when dexterity is lower
  • Magma Shot – Reduces FP cost and increases usage speed
  • Roiling Magma – Increases casting speed and reduces time until magma explodes
  • O, Flame! – Damage increased
  • Giantsflame Take Thee – Stamina cost reduction
  • Flame of the Fell God – Reduced FP cost and increased damage
  • Swirl, O flame! – Increase damage, reduce cooldown
  • Burn, O flame! – Increased casting speed and reduced cooldown.
  • Lion’s Claw – Cast speed increased and cooldown reduced.
  • Kick – Increases usage speed.
  • Hoarah Loux’s Earthshaker – Increases usage speed. Increases usage speed when entering track, reduces cooldown.
  • Troll’s Roar – Stamina cost reduction. Increases usage speed when entering tracking, increases travel distance.
  • Giant Hunt – Cooldown reduction.

Control down

  • Swarm of Flies – Reduces health loss on enemies. (Oh no!)
  • Fierce Flame – Reduces frenzy accumulated on enemies.
  • Frenzied Burst – Reduces the amount of frenzy accumulated on enemies.
  • Thundercloud Form – Reduces damage when not charging. Reduced FP costs. Cast speed increased and cooldown decreased.
