Lamborghini Huracan successor will launch at the end of 2024, as a plug-in hybrid

Lamborghini CEO Stefan Winkelmann has confirmed that the automaker is developing a successor to the Huracan supercar, which will hit the market by the end of 2024 with a plug-in hybrid powertrain. His comment comes as a reiteration of the statement Lamborghini CETO Rouven Mohr made earlier last July when he said that the Lamborghini Huracan will come with a PHEV setup.

The report claims that the lamborghini The successor to the Huracan will come with a twin-turbo V8 combined with an electrified system. The PHEV powertrain is said to not use the turbochargers until the internal combustion unit hits 7,000 rpm and keep them spinning until the engine hits 10,000 rpm. Beyond this rev range, the powertrain acts like a naturally aspirated engine with the help of a hybrid system.

Interestingly, the details of the upcoming Lamborghini Huracan come at a time when the Italian supercar company has revealed details about the powertrain specifications of the Aventador replacement. The successor to the Lamborghini Aventador will use a new 6.5-liter, naturally aspirated, V12 engine, combined with three different electric motors to support plug-in hybrids.

The ICE engine alone can produce 813 hp at 9,250 rpm and 725 Nm of torque at 6,750 rpm. Power will be sent to the rear axle exclusively. An electric motor will be integrated into an eight-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission, which can also send power to the rear axle depending on requirements and road conditions. Setting up a PHEV can produce a total power output of 1,000 hp. The powertrain setup will use a 3.8 kWh lithium-ion battery pack that will be housed in the vehicle’s central tunnel.

Besides these plug-in hybrid models, Lamborghini is also developing a PHEV variant of the urine SUV, will borrow powertrain from porsche Panamera Turbo S E-Hybrid.
