Lachlan and Sarah Murdoch watch the sunset on a 30 million dollar yacht in Sydney

Lachlan Murdoch and his wife Sarah enjoyed a relaxing afternoon aboard their $30 million superyacht, Istros, on Wednesday.

The couple, who have been married for 23 years, watched the sunset aboard the ship as they cruised around Sydney Harbor with family and friends.

Sarah, 49, kept warm in a blue denim jacket and white coat as she chatted with friends after boarding the yacht.

In April last year, the Sydney Morning Herald reported that the Murdochs would likely stay in Australia ‘for years, not months, as was initially believed’.

The couple who own a home in Bellevue Hill, called Le Manoir, married in 1999.

Lachlan bought the superyacht Istros earlier this year.

The ship is likely moored where the family recently purchased a $38 million ‘boat shed’ at Wunulla Road, Point Piper.

The 42 meter high Istros, built in 1954 and later refurbished, was once owned by the Pappadakis shipping dynasty.

It won the grand prize for best restored ship at the Monaco Yacht Club Prada Classic Yacht Show in 2001.

But it had fallen into disrepair and was left with little more than a pile of rust when it was rescued from a Maltese port in 2015, salvaged and rebuilt.

The interior is redesigned in a luxurious Scandinavian style by Van Geest Design.
