KTM 890 Adventure R launched at India Cycling Week 2022


KTM India was one of the more prominent manufacturers at India Bike Week 2022 and the Austrian manufacturer showcased the 890 Adventure R at the annual motor festival. by KTM The midsize adventure shares the booth with some of the brand’s premium offerings like the 1290 Super Duke R, the RC 16 MotoGP machine, and the KTM 450 Rally built for Dakar. The KTM 890 Adventure CHEAP will compete with tiger victory 900Ducati Multistrada V2, and the like, if launched in India.

The KTM 890 Adventure R has the familiar vertical LED headlights with a tall windshield. This adventure bike features handlebars and belly panels for extra protection, while a beak-shaped fender and upward-facing exhaust aim to tackle rough terrain with ease. The bike rides on spokes wheels with multi-purpose tyres.

Power on the KTM 890 Adventure R comes from an 889 cc LC8c parallel engine tuned for 103 hp at 8,000 rpm and 100 Nm of peak torque at 6,500 rpm. The engine is paired to a 6-speed gearbox with a steel tube frame underneath. Suspension duties are carried out by USD WP forks at the front and WP-derived monoshock at the rear. Both units are adjustable. The 2023 version of the 890 Adventure R comes with Xplor PDS (Progressive Damping System) rear shock without linkage. The new system is a direct upgrade from the KTM 450 Rally.

Braking performance comes from disc brakes at both ends of the KTM 890 Adventure R while the 2023 version adds an improved 9.3 MP ABS, using the vehicle’s six-axis IMU to automatically switch between ABS when cornering and ABS when driving in Rally mode. There is also a sensitivity-based motorcycle traction control system on the ADV.

Other upgrades include a new TFT display for the instrument panel with on/off switches for accessing various settings and driving modes. The new system also comes with Bluetooth connectivity on the motorcycle.

It is not yet known whether the KTM 890 Adventure R will be launched in India or not. For now, that’s a tease from the same maker as the 790 Adventure at India Bike Week 2019. That said, considering both the 790 Duke and 790 Adventure have been revived for Europe, it’s going to be exciting. interested to see if these models will be considered for India in the near future.
