Koch Elected President of CARMA


Billy Koch was elected chairman of the board of California Retirement Management Accounts (CARMA), a nonprofit organization that provides funding for the retirement of Thoroughbreds in California. Koch is the founder and managing partner of Little Red Feather Racing.

“Retiring our horses is an absolute priority,” says Koch. “These amazing animals are the only reason any of us are in this game and they deserve our support when their racing careers come to an end. This responsibility rests with our owners, coaches, runners, players, ADW vendors, and track partners. Organizations like CARMA and our own LRF Cares continue to grow, but we need additional support from all parts of the equestrian world to ensure our horses are cared for continuously. . I am honored to assume the role of CARMA’s next President and look forward to working with the dedicated and passionate industry professionals that make up the CARMA board of directors as we continue to fulfill our mission to sponsor Retired racehorse. ”

In his previous role of Treasurer, Koch is credited with developing and implementing the CARMAthon virtual fundraisers in 2020 and 2021. These events have raised more than $300,000 for the horses. retired racers.
