Australian mother Jess says she tried everything from magic erasers to scouring pads to remove pens before finding success with rubbing alcohol.

‘Do not use on porous surfaces such as wood, blackboards, painted walls, clothing and paper,’ the Kmart description reads.

“I used to clean my old blackboard wall with Coca Cola… I know it’s weird, but it works,” one fellow mom wrote.

This drink contains a small amount of phosphoric acid which can remove tough stains, to clean them simply pour some of the drink on a handkerchief and scrub.
Some parents who work at Bunnings Warehouse, Flower Power, fruit shops and bars have admitted that their workplace also uses Coke to wipe chalkboards.
“It sounds weird but we use Coke to clean the blackboard in the fruit shop,” one person wrote.

Even so, Jess eventually succeeds with rubbing alcohol and vows never to use her pen on a blackboard again.
