Kirk Cameron found God during his passionate days on ABC’s “Growing Pains.”
At the time, the sitcom star was a young man, but he had faith by the end of the show’s seven seasons.
And it wasn’t easy for him professionally.
The actor/author opened up about his life and career with the host of “The Megyn Kelly Show” on SiriusXM. Cameron said his beliefs caused some surprising friction on the set of the show.
“I think people will be excited about it. So you often see teen actors end up living a life that turns out to be a train wreck… they end up with a gun in hand or you see pictures of them in some magazines. tabloids,” Cameron told Kelly.
He recalls: “There was a time when people said, ‘no, you’re going to pull this celebrity’s muscles, combined with some new religious passion you’re going to force people and change. program’. “No, really, I don’t… I just want to do my job and go home to my girlfriend and plan my life.”
“[My faith] ruffled to the point of being uncomfortable working on ‘Growing Pains’ for the past few years,” he said.
Cameron then left Hollywood, Inc. and fell into the arms of the blossoming faith-based cinema. Movies like “Fireproof,” a hugely successful independent film, and the recent film “Imprints,” let him continue to act while embracing the values he holds dear.

According to Fox News, some libraries that invite queens to read in front of young children have asked Cameron to stay away.
Most mainstream news outlets, including Variety and The Hollywood Reporter, somehow ignored this story. Google “Kirk Cameron Library” and you’ll find most right-leaning news outlets cover the story.
Cameron explained the issue in his conversation with Kelly.
Cameron said of the controversy: “It’s not that children in public schools today are struggling with mental illness, drug overdoses, cyberbullying and school shootings and can use a book about kindness, kindness, gentleness, and self-control. “What was I thinking?”
The veteran actor became serious about the subject.
“It highlights the moral war going on here,” he said, noting that his book celebrates kindness, tolerance, and generosity. “Who would oppose values like these?”
He had some harsh words, despite being rated G, for libraries that refused his request.
“Tolerance is a cloak for totalitarianism. If we don’t like your idea, you’ll be disqualified,” he said. “All I ask.. is to use the same space [reserved for drag queen story hours] to teach children through the stages of life and learn how to develop the patience, kindness, and perseverance that they can grow.”

His fans do not take the news lying down.
“Parents, grandparents and librarians are rising. They want to host their own story hours in their own libraries,” he said, adding that he has sent out free copies of his books so the libraries in question can read the content first and see for yourself the values contained within.
“If they don’t change their mind and want to continue to exclude certain views, I’m ready to exercise my constitutional right in court,” he said. “We are looking forward to visiting those libraries very soon.”
