King’s coronation to be aired at more than 30 big screen sites across the UK | UK News



The King’s coronation will be shown publicly at more than 30 locations across the UK.

Cities include London, Cardiff And Belfast will show the event live on the big screen on Saturday, May 6.

Public screenings of the ceremony, including the coronation of Queen Consort Camilla, will also be held in Birmingham, Manchester, Leeds, Hull, Bristol and Brighton.

The movie screening will take place on Scotlandalthough an exact location has yet to be confirmed.

The Department for Culture, Media and Sport (DCMS) has provided more than £1 million for the big screens.

Culture Secretary Lucy Frazer said: “The coronation will be a magical moment that brings everyone together to celebrate the best of Britain over a special weekend in May.

“These large screens, at key locations in towns and cities across the UK’s four countries, will make it easier for everyone to participate and have a memorable experience to mark the historic event. and this is interesting.”

According to DCMS, 29 locations have been confirmed. Seven other regions have also been agreed, with exact locations yet to be confirmed.

Local authorities will be able to choose between using the funding for a larger large screen site or several smaller projection sites, with Sunderland being one of the selected regions to choose the latter.

Details of activities taking place in addition to screenings will be communicated by local authorities.

Activities will include cultural festivals, live music, community workshops, art galleries, and games and creative competitions.

What will happen at the coronation?

As part of the weekend’s event, the Coronation Concert will be held at Windsor Castle on Sunday 7 May, while iconic venues across the UK will be lit up by using projectors, lasers, drone screens and lighting systems.

Next up is Big Help Out on May 8, which will see thousands of people volunteering to support the causes that matter most to them.

The coronation will take place on May 6 at Westminster Abbey in London – where coronations and ceremonies have been held for the past 900 years.
