Lopez claimed fouling Ortiz for the incident in the eighth column, with no change to the order of the finish.

“I felt like I never bothered the other horse. It came in when changing the line, but I fixed it and never even hit it,” Ortiz said. “I grabbed her and caught her straight, then I hit her a few times to the left and she would go forward.”

Ortiz, Jr., who won a trio of Breeders’ Cup races on Friday and Saturday at Keenelandsaid he felt comfortable during his favorite 1-2 match.

“This is a good thing. She deserves all the credit,” he said. “It was a pretty easy ride out there. She did well and I spent my time with her. Whenever I asked her, she replied.

“Last time she was a little bit green and today she’s a little better. I think she’s learning.”

Pine Brook Ranch’s Foggy Night, coached by Butch Reid, Jr., scored 11 1/4 girl lengths in third place with a one-mile and 70-meter claim at the Racing Parx.

“I really enjoyed the race. I’m sure that’s it. Winning has something to do with it.”

Reid said Foggy Night could return to Big A for Demoiselle Stocks (G2) on December 3, providing qualifying scores 10-4-3-2-1 for Longines Kentucky Oaks (G1).
