Kia announces pricing, minor changes for 2023 K5 Sedan
Kia’s K5 has a stupid namebut it is low-key one of the best affordable mid-size sedan that you can buy, and thanks to Kia’s announcement on Tuesday, we know it’s going to be a little better for 2023.
The biggest changes for the 2023 K5 are the removal of the previous base LX version and the removal of the all-wheel drive option from the current base LXS version. Simplified product stacks are generally a good thing, and four trim levels seems like a lot.
Also new is the optional panoramic glass roof on the trim GT-line, which also includes LED interior lighting and black trim. Is it shaking the earth? No, but does it add a bit of a pleasant atmosphere to an already pleasant cabin? In the words of the late great Robert Evans: “You bet your ass it will.”
Prices for the 2023 Kia K5 LXS start at a very reasonable $26,185, including a $1,095 destination fee, while the top-of-the-line 2.5-liter turbocharged GT will run you just $32,585. That 2.5 turbocharged engine is also a spicy one, with 290 horsepower and 311 pound-feet of torque and an eight-speed automatic transmission. The smaller 1.6-liter engine isn’t bad either, with 180 hp and 195 lb-ft.
We asked Kia when the K5 is expected to hit dealer showrooms but didn’t get a response at the time of announcement. If we had to guess, we would say “soon.”
