Kheri: Minister’s son, 12 others to be tried for murder, rioting | India News


BAREILLY: Additional trial judge Sunil Kumar Verma on Tuesday charged with murder, attempted murder, criminal conspiracy, riot and under the Arms Act, among others, against the son of Union Minister Ajay Mishra Teni Ashish Mishra and 12 others in Lakhipur Kheri violence case. Another defendant will face trial for “losing evidence”. The defendants were brought before the court via videoconference due to security concerns.
This comes a day after the court in Lakhimpur Kheri rejected the defendant’s application for release. District government advisor Arvind Tripathi told TOI, “Ashish Mishra and 12 other defendants will now be tried under sections 147 (riot), 148 (riot armed with a deadly weapon), 302 (murder), 307 (intentional murder), person), 326 (arbitrarily causing serious bodily injury by endangering a weapon), 427 (crime causing damage), 120B (criminal conspiracy) of the IPC and section 177 of the Motor Vehicles Act, also like the Firearms Act.”
Tripathi said, “Ajay Mishra Teni’s brother-in-law Virendra ShuklaThe head of the Palia bloc, will face trial under section 201 (loss of evidence) of the IPC. Virendra was released on bail by the court because his offense could be bailed.
On 3 October last year, a convoy of three SUVs, including a Mahindra Thar owned by Teni, allegedly crashed into a group of farmers protesting in Lakhimpur Kheri. Four farmers and a journalist were killed.
