Kerstin Casparij: Man City sign Dutch defender to replace Barcelona’s Lucy Bronze | Football news
Manchester City have secured the signing of Dutch international Kerstin Casparij from FC Twente – and the right-back is not worried at the prospect of becoming Lucy Bronze’s replacement at the club.

Man City’s new signing is part of the Dutch side that reached the quarter-finals of the UEFA Women’s European Cup and will join her new club for pre-season training next week – and she revealed her excitement to Sky Sports News about to move to Manchester.
“Gareth and I were on the same page about our style of play and what that means for me as a right-back,” she said. “Playing the way Manchester City next year makes me very, very happy.
“I get a feel for the club when I’m there for the treatment. It feels like home and the people are really nice. I can’t wait to call it home for the next few years.”
Casparij’s right-back predecessor Bronze spent the last two years at Manchester, becoming the first English defender and player to win FIFA’s 2020 FIFA Women’s Player of the Year while under contract with the club. Super League club for girls.
But the 21-year-old feels no pressure to live up to Bronze’s expectations.
“It’s an honor that they want to sign me to take over for Lucy and she’s an incredible player,” added the Netherlands international. “She’s also an incredible person and a Manchester City legend.
“It’s a pretty big shoe to fill but I don’t feel the pressure. I feel the trust they have in me and I will do her justice.”
