Kerala Girl Describes NEET Exam Horror

A teenager in Kerala’s Kollam, one of many believed to have been forced to take off his bra ahead of Sunday’s NEET Medical entrance exam, today described his humiliation at sitting the exam by saying Use your hair to cover your chest.

“They asked us to take off our bra and put it on the table. All the bras were bunched together. We didn’t even know if we’d get our bra back when we got back. When We came back and it was crowded. Some girls cry out of shame. One of the female security guards is said to have asked: “Why are you crying?”

With disturbing callousness, security officers instructed the girls to take their bras and move on.

“They said take your bra in your hand and leave without wearing them. We were embarrassed to hear that. But everyone was waiting to change. It was dark and there was no room to change… It was a terrible experience. When we were writing the exam, we wore our hair in the front because we didn’t have a shawl… There were both men and women and it was really difficult and uncomfortable,” the girl said. know.

The horrifying incident surfaced when the father of one of the girls, 17, complained to the police. He said, “90% of girls have to remove their makeup” before writing the exam and was sobbing.

“Is your future or your underwear big for you? Just take it off and don’t waste our time (sic),” the father’s complaint quoted the security officer as saying.

Two other complaints were filed today.

The National Bureau of Investigation has requested a fact-finding team to investigate the incident. The agency had previously denied the allegations and said it had said the complaint was “fictitious”.

The National Commission on Women called the incident “shameful and infuriating at the modesty of young girls.”
