MANILA, Philippines—Bantamweight prospects Kenneth LLover and Benny Canete led another hit Blow by Blow event this past weekend in Mandaluyong City.
Llover (8-0, 5KOs) beat Canete (7-1, 6KOs) by points to win the Philippine Boxing Federation championship in front of a sizable crowd at Barangay Mauway Executive Sports Complex.
The 14-match one-card banner match marks Blow-by-Blow’s second event since Manny Pacquiao revived the show last November.
Blow-by-Blow was originally launched in the 1990s when young Pacquiao fought several times.
“It was great to see boxers from different cages compete against each other. It’s a sign of healthy competition,” said Pacquiao, who makes sure to watch matches from his home in the city of General Santos.
Pacquiao plans to hold an event once a month, in hopes of finding the next Filipino world champion.
“Boxing will always be close to my heart. I know the feeling when you’re just trying to move on,” said Pacquiao, boxing’s only eight-division world champion.
“It brings back memories when I was still fighting mainly in Mandaluyong when I first started.”
