Five months after the release of his latest album, ‘Mr. Spirit & Big Steps,’ Kendrick Lamar Finally released images for the fan-favorite track from the project, ‘We Cry Together.’ Co-starring with actress Taylor Paige, Kendrick Lamar made a short for the piece that showcases its passionate dialogue.
Right after ‘Mr. Morale & The Big Steppers’ Has Been Released, Taylor Paige Reveals That There’s A short film to go with ‘We Cry Together’ and back in June, the film was shown exclusively in Los Angles to fellow celebrities and industry insiders. Kendrick Lamar fans have been waiting on the edge of their seats ever since, anticipating when the official image will be released to the public.
In the short, both Kendrick and Taylor visually portray the song’s ferocity and hostility that previously could only have been imagined by fans hearing it on the album. Within minutes of the film’s release, it became the top trending topic on social media, sparking fierce debate.
Although Kendrick Lamar just released ‘We Cry Together’ this year, the short clip for the song was actually recorded live on March 15, 2020 — the time of the COVID-19 pandemic. The film is directed by Dave Free, who co-founded pgLang with Kendrick, along with Jake Schreier.
