Keir Starmer calls for recall of parliament over economic crisis | Politics News
Sir Keir Starmer has called for parliament to be convened to discuss the financial market turmoil following Friday’s small budget.
Speaking to the press, the Labor leader said the launch of a temporary bond-buying program by the Bank of England to prevent “physical risks” to the UK’s financial stability was ” very serious”.
“The government has clearly lost control of the economy,” he said.
“What the government needs to do now is revoke parliament and give up this funding before more damage occurs.”
Parliament is taking a break for this week’s Labor and Tory conferences.
