Keep watch on demographic changes in border areas: Amit Shah | India News

NEW DELHI: Union Minister of Internal Affairs Amit Shah on Thursday asked the superintendent of police (DGPs) of the border states, especially West Bengal and Bihar, besides Jharkhand to stay particularly alert to the demographic changes taking place in their area.
Speaking at the conclusion of the two-day National Security Strategy Conference, Shah emphasized national security and said the priority was “fighting for the future of the country and its youth”. at the same time calling on all countries to join hands in this mission.
The Minister said PM Narendra Modi changed the nature of the DGP conference since 2014, where the emphasis is on increasing internal security and using technology to face new challenges. “For the first time, a system has been developed in the country in the form of the National Automatic Fingerprint Identification System (NAFIS). We should bring it down to the grassroots next to the regular district meetings of the coordinating committees,” he said.
The two-day security conference discussed issues related to Maoist underground workers and their front organizations, counter-terrorism measures, radicalization, counter-technology. drones, network monitoring and communications as well as emerging challenges posed by 5G technology.
“It is the responsibility of the DGPs of the states to bring all the technical and strategic information within their states, especially in the border districts, and share it with others,” he said. The minister said the government has achieved considerable success in internal security matters related to three main issues – terrorism in Jammu and Kashmir, various extremist groups in the Northeast, and Left-wing extremism. “Under Modiji’s leadership, we have enacted many new laws, increased coordination with states, increased budget allocation and optimal use of technology,” he added.

The central government is preparing a database of crimes that will be shared with all intelligence agencies and police in real time for better coordination. Shah said they are using 5G technology for this purpose.
“The basic principle of a modern intelligence agency should not be ‘need to know’, but ‘need to share’ because we will not achieve success unless the approach changes,” he told. the head of the national police.
