Keeneland Starts Countdown to Breeders Cup

Keeneland began the official countdown to this year’s Breeders’ Cup at Tandy Park in Lexington on Thursday in a ceremony attended by Breeders’ Cup President and CEO Drew Fleming, Lexington Mayor Linda Gorton, President Keeneland President and CEO Shannon Arvin, Breeders’ Cup Festival President Kip Cornett, and GI Longines Breeders’ Cup Classic award-winning coach, Brad Cox.

“We are delighted to officially begin the countdown to the 39th lap of the World Breeders Championship this fall in our hometown of Lexington,” said Fleming. “We are grateful to be working alongside leaders like Mayor Gorton, our friends at Keeneland and so many others in the Lexington community to ensure that the Festival and World Championship this year is the best tournament in Breeders’ Cup history.

Keeneland will host the championship weekend for the third time in 2022. It was first held at the Lexington oval in 2015 and back in 2020.

“Lexington is delighted to be back in the international spotlight as we once again host the Breeders’ Cup,” said Gorton. “This year, the Breeders’ Cup will crown the true champions of motorsport in the Horse Capital of the World at the world’s finest track, Keeneland. Join us for a celebration that our international visitors and local residents will enjoy. ”

Arvin added, “Keeneland is delighted to begin the countdown to the Breeders’ Cup this fall, and to share this amazing international championship with our fans. Tickets for the Breeders’ Cup 2022 in Keeneland will go on sale to the public on May 9, at noon ET at BreedersCup.com/Tickets. Attendance will be capped at 45,000. Fans who have purchased tickets to the Breeders’ Cup 2020 World Championship, as the event is impacted by the pandemic, will be able to repurchase the same or similar seats for 2022. Breeders’ Cup Ticket Office reached out to 2020 buyers about how to secure a seat at the 2022 World Championships.
