KBL: SJ Belangel’s Daegu, RJ Abarrientos’ Ulsan pick up wins
MANILA, Philippines—SJ Belangel and Daegu KOGAS Pegasus overcame Jeonju KCC Egis in the Korean Basketball League at Jeonju Gymnasium on Tuesday.
Belangel quietly contributed to Daegu’s close victory, scoring 5 points, 3 rebounds and 2 assists as his team improved the lead to 13-19.
Lee Dae-Sung continues to be the hero of KOGAS Pegasus with the highest 23 in the game based on three baskets from outside the arc.
Ricardo Ratcliffe’s nearly double double with 9 markers and 14 rebounds wasn’t enough to pull Jeonju out of the gutter.
On the other hand, RJ Abarrientos’ Ulsan Hyundai Mobis Phoebus defeated Justin Gutang and Changwon LG Sakers 82-75 at Dongchun Gymnasium.
Abarrientos scored all six of his points from the charity tournament without sinking any of his four scoring attempts. However, he made four assists and three steals in defence to give Ulsan the win.
Gutang was held to a goalless draw for six minutes while former NBA veteran Dante Cunningham scored late with 16 points and five as Changwon stumbled on a 20-13 card.
Gauge Prim’s double-double performance helped Mobis Phoebus reach 20-14 as he finished with 24 points and 10 goals.
