The town of Karl-Anthony had one of the best moments of his career Tuesday night on one of the league’s brightest stages: Madison Square Garden.
The towns converted one-leg and one-leg in less than 30 seconds to claim the Timberwolves’ 112-110 win over the Knicks, giving them the lead and helping spur a thrilling late win.
In 109-108, Towns held the ball at the top of the peg, facing Julius Randle and driving towards the perimeter. He dribbled twice before going up with his right hand, drawing contact from Randle and transforming the game as he staggered back into the crowd.
Towns then took a free throw to give it a two-point lead, but Randle fouled the next time around for the Knicks. However, he missed the first and hit the second, maintaining the Minnesota lead. New York then sent Patrick Beverley to the line, and he also missed his first free throw before converting into a second.
Evan Fournier hit the basket in a situation that lasted less than 10 seconds, but was blocked by Jaden McDaniels. Alec Burks had an attack back and scored the equalizer, but it was successful again and the game was over.
Towns finished with 20 points, 5 rebounds and 3 assists 6-eat-12 from the field and 2-eat-4 from outside the arc. Anthony Edwards added 21 points, 3 goals and 3 assists, while D’Angelo Russell added 17 points and 4 assists.
Fournier led all scorers with 27. Randle finished with 21 points, nine rebounds and nine assists.
