2024 is a tumultuous year for the latter royal family Kate Middleton And King Charles III both announced their diagnosis with unspecified forms of cancer. Before Kate announced her diagnosis at the end of March, she was added to the Army website’s schedule for Trooping the Color, the annual parade in honor of the monarch’s birthday that will be held on June 15, but was later dropped. REMOVE after Kensington Palace staff said her participation had not yet been decided. Now it is official that thing Prince William and the king will attend a dress rehearsal on June 8, but Kate will not.
As the new Colonel of the Irish Guards, Kate was supposed to attend the Colonel’s Review, a rehearsal ceremony to test the troops, next weekend. Based on Irish Sun, that role will instead be assumed by a Lieutenant General Sir James Bucknall, a former military commander and sources close to Kate said she never thought she would attend the assessment after starting chemotherapy in February.
Lieutenant Colonel James Shaw, who served as Brigade Major for both ceremonies, sent his best wishes to the princess in a statement to the tabloid. We are very proud that the Princess of Wales holds the position of Colonel of the Irish Guards.”
Kate became Colonel of the Guards in March 2023, taking up the role after William was promoted to Colonel of the Welsh Guards. Throughout 2023, the princess visited with the Guardians, dressed their special brooch at events, and even participate Training activities. She would have celebrated St. Patrick’s Day at their parade in 2024 but cannot attend because of her illness.
Although Kate will miss the dress rehearsal for the guards on June 8, she will still be able to appear on the palace balcony with her family for the main event. According to Daily mirror, Palace sources do not rule out the possibility that she will attend events after June 8 if she feels well at that time.
