Well, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Kansas City Chiefs are really good NFL teams. It’s amazing how well-run organizations can overcome trauma and hard salary caps to create a diversion. Sunday night football game.

Still, here’s some free advice for all of the Kansas City Chiefs’ future opponents. Don’t fumble with the opening match.

It’s arguably the best quarterback ever to wear some pig skin – Patrick Mahomes – one more possession. After the mess, not only did the Captain get the ball deep into the opponent’s territory, but now they started attacking both halves.

Afterall scream, miss target and intercept in the game’s final game in last week’s loss to the Indianapolis Colts, the Chiefs looked like their dominant offensive self on Sunday night. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers’ defense has been one of the more solid units all season, but they were unable to keep the Chiefs out of the final zone in the first half. If Clyde Edwards-Helaire hadn’t missed the pass with no one around him, the Captain would have made it to 28-10 even earlier than them.

That muffled kick put the Buccaneers in the worst possible position to start the game. Tom Brady coughing on the ball on the bag in the second half was also a detriment for the Buccaneers, but they were able to produce a touchdown late in the first half to make it 28-17.

The Buccaneers held the Chiefs to a goal to start the second half, but DC Chiefs Steve Spangnuolo knew where to attack Tom Brady’s team even though they had already dropped the running game. The tops can still put pressure on midfield and keep the Buccaneers out of the late zone until the end of the third quarter.

After that bad afternoon in Indianapolis, the Chiefs cutting through the Buccaneers offense like a hot knife through butter was a positive sign for them. But what if the Bucs don’t manage the opening game and put their scripted plays on the field for the opening? Judging from Tom Brady’s 385 yards and three touchdowns, they most likely took the lead.

Also, don’t judge the Buccaneers’ defense by this game alone. They haven’t given up more than 15 points in a game this season, and it’s not like they’ve played the Chicago Bears for four weeks in a row. They made the Dallas Cowboys light-hearted work – with healthy Dak Prescott – and also knocked the New Orleans Saints out. While they lost to the Green Bay Packers last week, the offensive line and wide receiving corps were destroyed, and the final score was 14-12. It would be a lot harder for the Packers to keep the Buccaneers with that low total if they were to face the Week 4 Bucs. They had the left shot starting back on Sunday night, as did the players. Mike Evans and Chris Godwin.

While the mistakes put the Buccaneers in a hole they’ll never get out of, they fought back and showed what a sane attack could look like. With 80%, they are by far the best team in the NFC South. The tops forced the Buccaneers to make those mistakes, and still showed that they could drive down the field, and have an enviable goal pack even without the 6-foot-4 receiver and rerun 235 pounds.

Expect to see both of these teams in the home playoffs in January.
