Kambosos lost to Haney & Lomachenko says Chris Colbert
Via Sean Jones: Featherweight superweight contender Chris Colbert says George Kambosos Jr will lose his four lightweight titles if he faces Vasily Lomachenko or Devin Haney next.
Colbert feels that Kambosos (20-0, 10 KOs) just came out of a tough match against former IBF/WBA/WBC Franchise/WBO 135-lb champion Teofimo Lopez last November, so he should compulsory participation.
The problem with Kambosos following Colbert’s well-meaning advice is that he’ll be stuck with this pick if he’s fighting an opponent in his favor: Lomachenko [IBF, WBC & WBO] or Rolando ‘Rolly’ Romero [WBA].
Rolly would be just as dangerous to Kambosos as Lomachenko, and it would be a bad night for him if he fought that fight. Sean Jones saw a light detachment dotted with fighters that could defeat the Australians.
These lightweight devices will probably beat the Kambosos EASILY
- Michel Rivera
- Devin Haney
- Vasily Lomachenko
- Ryan Garcia
- Zaur Abdullaev
- William Zepeda
- Isaac Cruz
- Jorge Linares
- Masayoshi Nakatani
- Miguel Berchelt
It was admirable that Kambosos beat Teofimo Lopez last November, but the reality is that he was injured and the weight dropped to N-class that night.
Colbert (16-0, 6 KOs) will impress on Saturday night, February 26 against replacement Hector Luis Garcia in the Showtime main event at Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas, Las Vegas.
“If I were Kambosos, I would stay away from Dev Haney. Let him enjoy the belts,” Chris Colbert told DAZN Boxing Show. “Personally, I like Devin. We just talked last night.
Colbert said of Kambosos: “He came out of a tough fight that he had to train for all year.
“I’ll lower it as low as I can; I will take one of my sanctioning agency duties,” said Colbert.
Kambosos seems to be focusing on getting the biggest payday possible for his next game, because if he meets the most allowable opponent in the lightweight rankings, he could still lose.
That’s why Kambosos focuses on getting the biggest payday possible.
“I credit him, but my personal opinion is that he will lose to Lomachenko,” Colbert said of Kambosos.
“Um, I suspect so; it will be a good fight, though,” Colbert said of Haney possibly defeating the Kambosos.
“I think Lomachenko will beat him worse because Lomachenko already has those angles.”
“However, Kambosos is very good. That whole gentle department is full of good people.
“We’re going to fight this fight to stay afloat, and then we’ll be back in the ring in May hoping to counter him. [WBA super featherweight champion Roger Gutierrez]’ said Colbert.
“He can’t run, and he can’t hide because I’m No 1, I have to, so this fight has to happen this year. I’ve never seen Garcia fight.
Kambosos becoming the undisputed lightweight champion will make history on June 6. He will go down in history as another example of a one-of-a-kind wonder.
