Kambosos Jr will likely face Lomachenko or Ryan Garcia next

Via Sean Jones: Vasily Lomachenko and Ryan Garcia have overtaken Devin Haney as potential options for George Kambosos Jr. fight in 2022.

Undisputed lightweight champion Kambsosos’ talks with WBC champion Haney have hit a snag over a financial package, so that fight now looks unlikely.

According to DAZN’s Chris Mannix, Ryan Garcia (21-0, 18 KOs) is now seen as the lead to get the fight against the undefeated Kambosos (20-0, 13 KOs). The boxers will fight temporarily in early 2022, and then meet later this year. Vasily Lomachenko is another pick for Kambosos’ next fight.

If Top Rated promoter Bob Arum can organize a fight between his boxer Lomachenko and Kambosos Jr, it will be a huge achievement.

After Arum’s company wins Friday’s bid for a fight between Tyson Fury and Dillian Whyte, the setup for a fight between Kambosos Jr and Lomachenko will be huge.

Golden Boy promoted Ryan, 23, will fight in April in an interim, while Kambosos Jr will return to the ring in June.

Does Haney value herself?

Haney (27-0, 15 KOs) might have assumed the fight with Kambosos Jr would be a big payday for him in terms of what he gets for matches against Joseph ‘Jojo’ Diaz Jr, Jorge Linares and Yuriorkis Gamboa.

Devin has been paid the highest dollars for his fights against older veterans since he signed with Matchroom Boxing and some believe he was overpaid.

Haney promoter Eddie Hearn wants to make him a star quickly, but it looks like he’s going to miss the chance to try and make it happen with Kambosos.

Kambosos – Haney talk stalled

“There have been a lot of intense negotiations for the next George Kambosos fight. A lot of the early talk focused on Kambosos going up against Devin Haney,” Chris Mannix told DAZN Boxing Show.

“What I was told this week was Haney and Kambosos chats are not working. I wouldn’t go as far as to say that they’re dead because nothing in boxing is really dead, but the people I’ve talked to who’ve been involved in these discussions have said there’s no deal. which is done immediately.

“The biggest reason is because no financial package satisfies Devin Haney and his team. So at this point, it seems that money is the biggest obstacle in the battle between Haney and Kambosos. At this point, it doesn’t seem like the fight will happen.

“Look, there are definitely a lot of chefs in the kitchen about this sort of thing. I don’t think it’s just one person doing one thing. You have a lot of people involved.

“Of course, DAZN getting involved as a broadcaster, network and streaming service is clearly interested in getting into boxing in Australia,” Mannix said.

“Kambosos is an important part of something like that. At this time, there is not enough money to satisfy Team Haney. That’s what I was told. The Kamsbosos team is looking the other way,” said Mannix.

Maybe it’s better that the Kambosos Jr and Haney talk is dead because it’s not a good fight.

Haney lacks charisma and his fighting style is ugly to watch. Everything that Haney does is extremely boring.

Choose Lomachenko & Ryan Garcia

“The two directions they’re looking at most at the moment are at Vasily Lomachenko and potentially a deal that could pit the Kambosos against Ryan Garcia,” Mannix continued.

“Let’s start with the Lomachenko side of this. Lomachenko and Top Rated are very receptive to whatever Kambosos wants to do. Lomachenko’s main focus isn’t on making the most dollars in a fight like this.

“It was entering a fight that could have made him the undisputed 135 lb champion to get four belts. So he’s ready to be flexible about money for a situation like this.

“That makes these conversations easy. The Kambosos’ highest ranking and faction created a framework for a meaningful deal. So there is some momentum there when it comes to making a deal between Kambosos and Lomachenko,” said Mannix.

Sean Jones would be shocked at this point if Kambosos Jr. against Lomachenko because it was a step too far. While it was great that Kambosos beat the injured Teofimo Lopez last November, he probably won’t have any success against a healthy Lomachenko.

Loma will be a 2-vs-fight

Mannix said: “Devin wants what he wants. “All I can tell you is that the people involved in the Kambosos can, not a deal, but be on the same page about the money to make a Kambosos – Lomachenko war happen. out.

“They don’t agree because money will create a Kambosos-Haney war,” Mannix said.

“According to Eddie [Hearn], Eddie said that Devin was going to go into this fight just to really get these belts, and he obviously wasn’t going to take crumbs and peanuts,” AK said.

“But gears shift gears; credit to Kambosos if he is willing to fight Lomachenko. That loma came from a [Richard] I mean, defending those belts for the first time, it was clear that the Kambosos wanted to ride on this wave.

“I didn’t tell him [Kambosos] a one-of-a-kind wonder. I’m not saying that, but do you want to defend all your titles against someone like Lomachenko right away? If I were a manager, I would oppose that,” said AK.

“It won’t be just one time. It was a two-match deal with Lomachenko and Lomachenko as well,” Mannix said of Kambosos having a chance to take on Lomachenko in a rematch if he loses.

“There will be a rematch clause related to that contract with Lomachenko,” Mannix said.

You could argue that the only point of two-game skirmishes with Lomachenko was for Kambosos to get his second payday after he was wiped out in the first game.

Loma will train in Australia

Mannix said: “Lomachenko has not only expressed an interest in Australia, but from what I have heard from Lomachenko’s side, he will do so during his time coaching in Australia.

“He won’t be effectively moving there, but he will basically be a citizen for six to eight weeks whatever he needs for his training camp.

“To boil it down, there is a lot of synergies when it comes to the Lomachenko-Kambosos negotiations, not the kind of synergies you need to create a war between Haney and Kambosos sides,” Mannix said.

Ryan Garcia has a higher fighting chance

“So the difference is we are saying Ryan Garcia is a Golden Boy and obviously Devin is the Matchmaker. So, is it more likely to make a deal between Golden Boy and Lou DiBella for Ryan Garcia? What is the difference?” AK said.

“I would say at this point there is more optimism that a deal can be done on that side [Ryan Garcia],” Mannix said. “The difference in that deal from what I was told is that both fighters will have temporary fights before they face each other.

“Garcia, as we know, was sent into action in April in his first fight since January 2021. Kambosos, I have been told, wants to fight in June on his birthday holiday. of the Queen in Australia, it was a big event on that day.

“So if you have Garcia, all of this has been discussed at this point. If you let Garcia fight in April and the Kambosos fight in June, the idea is at least to have both of these guys meet in a fight before the end of the year,” Mannix said.

“I spoke to Kambsos via text this week, and he reiterated his desire to have a big fight in the next game. He said in the filing, ‘Let’s go Haney and Matchroom. Join Vasily Lomachenko and Top Rank. Mannix said.

Kambosos must be smart

“You also have to remember that while Kambosos wants that big fight, he has to be financially smart here,” Mannix continued. “This may be his only chance to cash in on that lottery ticket.

“If you’re in a position where you have to step back a little bit and win the war before going into that next big fight, sometimes you have to.

“Every boxer said they were going to win the next fight. Come on, how many boxers have you heard say, ‘My next fight is going to be a big one. It’s going to be huge, it’s going to be anything, ‘and then it’s not,’ Mannix said of the Kambosos confidence.

“It’s as simple as that. Sometimes finances get in the way of making wars like this happen,” says Mannix.

Ryan Garcia promises to KO George Kambosos

Ryan Garcia: “It’s a pity to be out of the game for a year and my name still resonates much further than all the lightweights combined, don’t worry no matter which path you choose, just know you won’t. ever catch up or beat me 👑

George Kambosos Jr: “You’re a good kid, Ryan, I like you but get a ticket, buddy, and try not to pull the heartstrings again or hurt yourself in boxing if you close your eyes, you might as well. run into the wall.” Kambosos Jr. above Twitter.

Ryan Garcia: “I will KO George Kambosos, that is a promise. To speak
that happens regardless. APRIL I will be 22-0. Although everyone took pictures, which was easy to do, time ran out. You had a chance to laugh. I am coming for everything and nothing is stopping what is to come. “
