More details on the sentence for one of Dolph’s suspected killers
On Thursday (September 26), the court found Justin Johnson guilty of first-degree murder and conspiracy to murder Young Dolph. Judge Jennifer Mitchell also convicted him of possessing a handgun as a felony. TMZ.
Justin was one of two people responsible for killing Dolph outside a local bakery in Memphis, Tennessee, in November 2021.
VIBE reveals that Justin Johnson and Cornelius Smith admitted to opening fire on Makeda’s Homemade Butter Cookies in 2021. Smith testified that they carried out the $100,000 hit on Young Dolph at the request of Yo Gotti’s brother, Anthony “Big Jook” Mims. Mims was later killed in a shooting in January.
Earlier this week, Cornelius Smith Jr. testified, going on to implicate Big Jook in Young Dolph’s murder, as TSR previously reported.
He revealed that he and Justin Johnson FaceTimed Jook after the murder to confirm it had occurred. Smith said he had never met Dolph but claimed that Jook promised during the call to “stand up” to them. He also mentioned that he expected to make $40,000 from this shot.
The Rapper’s longtime partner and sister reacts to the guilty verdict
Immediately after Justin Johnson received his sentence, Dolph’s fiancée, Mia Jaye, shares her reaction. She released a statement on Instagram, thanking the public for supporting her and her family during this difficult process.
“Today’s verdict brings relief and restores my faith in the justice system. On behalf of my children, my family, and myself, I would like to thank law enforcement, the prosecution, and all those involved for their hard work in presenting the facts. leading to this verdict. We are also grateful to the public for standing with us and supporting accountability throughout this process,” Mia’s statement read.
Additionally, Miya expressed that the past three years have been extremely challenging due to the loss of Dolph and everything surrounding the trial.
However, his tragic murder inspired her to continue vigorously pursuing justice, not only for him but for all Black men.
“This is just the first step in the journey to achieving full justice for Adolph and we will patiently support that process,” Mia concluded.
Miya Jaye wasn’t the only one to react to the guilty verdict; Dolph’s sister, Carlisa Brown, also shared her thoughts.
In a clip obtained by TSR, Brown urges people to remember her brother and not his killers.
“We ask you to remember the man who loved being a father and spending time with his family. We ask you to remember the man who loved to give opportunities to those who are often overlooked and overlooked. We ask you to remember the man who loved to give back to others and was an inspiration to those in less than ideal circumstances,” Carlisa said as tears streamed down her face.
Justin Johnson spoke out after the guilty verdict
After Judge Mitchell sentenced Justin Johnson to life in prison, a post appeared to be shared from his Instagram account on Stories.
“These bastards must be held criminally responsible. I’m in charge of the streets regardless if I’m the oldest they can throw away the keys before I eat the cheese,” the 26-year-old wrote.
