Julio Jones is signing a one-year contract with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers as he looks to re-establish himself among the NFL’s top receivers while continuing his search for a Super Bowl ring.

The seven-time Pro Bowl and two-time All Pro wide receiver player spent last season with the Tennessee Titans but was hampered by injury as he scored 31 career-low catches with 434 yards and one touch the ball in 10 matches.

It only marked the fourth time in 11 seasons that he failed to hit the 1,000 yards received, before Jones did so for six straight years from 2014-2019 during his time with the Atlanta Falcons.

The 13,330 yards received in Jones’ career remains the most of any active player in the league, at 91.9 yards per game, his current NFL record.

The 33-year-old, who was picked in the first round from Alabama in 2011, has twice led the league in number of pitches in a season in both 2015 (1,871) and 2018 (1,677).

Jones was part of the Falcons team in 2016 that lost to Brady’s New England Patriots at Super Bowl LI taking a 28-3 lead in the third quarter.

His arrival in Tampa supporting a reception team that already includes Mike Evans, who entering 2022 is looking to make nine consecutive seasons of 1,000-yard reception, while easing the pressure on Chris Godwin amid his backdrop. He is recovering from last year’s ACL tear.

The Bucs have also added former Falcons recipient Russell Gage earlier in the season, and have sophomore Jaelon Darden, Breshad Perriman, Scotty Miller, Cyril Grayson Jr and Tyler Johnson at their disposal.

Jones’ introduction also comes after Brady’s favorite target passed away shortly after Rob Gronkowski.
