Julian Sands: Outcome of search for missing actor ‘may not be what we would like’, say police | Ents & Arts News

Police in southern California said they were “hoping” to find missing actor Julian Sands, but admitted the search results “may not be what we’d like”.
Sand was not seen for four weeks, after first being reported missing in the Mount Baldy region of the San Gabriel Mountains on January 13.
“Regarding the search for Julian Sands, we remain hopeful but know that the outcome may not be what we expected,” said a spokesman for the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department.
“Conditions on Mt Baldy remain a hazard and our Aviation Division still patrols the area when possible. We also plan to search the area on the ground in the future.”
The spokesperson added that Sands’ family is “grateful” for the support they have received since his disappearance, but has made no other public statements at this time.
The 65-year-old man was reported missing after he failed to return from a hiking trip in January and so far no trace of him has been found.
Since then, numerous searches for the British star have been carried out by land and by air by both state and local authorities.
Authorities had previously used a device called Recco, capable of detecting electronic devices and credit cards, in the hope of establishing a more precise area to focus search efforts on.

Sands was born in Yorkshire and moved to Los Angeles in 2020.
His breakout role was the free-spirited George in the historical drama A Room With A View, in which he co-starred with Helena Bonham Carter.
