More details on dismissed charges against officers involved in Breonna Taylor raid
According to CNNU.S. District Court Judge Charles Simpson dismissed charges against the former detective Joshua Jaynes and former officer Who is Kyle Meany? The article notes that in 2022, the couple was charged with “filing a false affidavit,” which led to a search of Taylor’s home on March 13, 2020, that resulted in his death.
The pair are also accused of creating “a false narrative to avoid responsibility for their role” in obtaining the search warrant using “false information.” The pair’s initial charges were said to carry a life sentence. Note, TMZ It was reported that no officers were present during the raid.
However, on Thursday, August 22, Judge Simpson reportedly declared that the search warrant did not lead to Taylor’s death. Instead, Simpson reportedly declared that Taylor’s boyfriend, Kenneth Walker, firing a gun at police was “probable cause” of her death.
“There is no direct connection between the warrantless entry and Taylor’s death,” the court ruling said, according to the source. “Taylor’s death was primarily due to the way the warrant was carried out. [Kenneth Walker’s] The decision to open fire, as alleged and argued, was a natural and probable consequence of executing the 12:45 a.m. warrant on ‘an unsuspecting household.’ That decision prompted the return fire, which struck and killed Taylor.”
According to TMZJaynes still faces “two counts of falsifying records, conspiracy to falsify records, and tampering with a witness” in the case. Meany, meanwhile, is said to face “one count of [making] made false statements to federal investigators.” The article added that Jaynes could still face up to 40 years in prison while Meany could still face up to five years.

Ban raids or do it the right way! knock on the door & show a warrant! No one knows what it feels like to see your door kicked down with a gun pointed in your face! May her soul rest in peace #ripbreaonnataylor #Banned “Invasion!”
