Josh Kelly crushes Bastida!

Josh Kelly overcame the tough Lucas Bastida to enter the world rankings and win the WBO International Super Welterweight championship. It was a fiery encounter before the bell rang, and after the end-of-year antics that saw the two main event boxers exchange, Bastida walked into the ring in Newcastle United’s shirt against Kelly of Sunderland even further.

With her name on the banners, Kelly did not disappoint the audience of Channel 5 and all who were present at Vertu Motors Arena in a great night of Wasserman Boxing. ‘PBK’ has a job to do as it continues to climb the rankings, but has clearly worked on all the physical and technical aspects of his match to take down his Argentinian opponent.

“I said I just wanted to have a big fight, and that kid has only lost once tonight, and it was because of a cut. It’s not even a justifiable loss,” said Kelly, live on Channel 5 after the fight.

“He is a strong Argentinian who wants to move forward, with a maraving style where he tries to do turns from everywhere. I needed to keep my discipline there tonight, and that’s exactly what I did. ”

Everyone’s eyes were on the Northeastern boxer even more when British champion and potential opponent Troy Williamson entered the arena wearing a Newcastle shirt. When asked about whether this is Team Kelly’s next move, it is undeniable that they want this fight or not, want this fight or not.

“We absolutely want that fight. I am here for all the big battles and that includes Troy,” he said. “I told Adam (Booth) and the rest of the team that it’s a fight we all definitely want to see.”

The post-fight interview between Channel 5, Kalle Sauerland and Josh Kelly was quickly interrupted by Williamson as he offered his opinion on a future encounter.

“It’s a fight that represents the future of boxing, and I’m 100% ready for it,” he said.

“Let’s start.”
