Via Barry Holbrook: Joseph Parker plans to do the unthinkable by knocking and knocking out ‘The Juggernaut’ Joe Joyce on September 14 at the AO Arena in Manchester, England.
Former WBO Heavyweight Champion Parker (30-2, 21 KOs) will come as a B-side opponent, but he’s not worried about that.
He believes he can win 100% and he can’t wait to share the ring with 2016 Olympic silver medalist Joyce (14-0, 13 KOs).
Parker has won his last six games against a less intense opponent since losing twice to Dillian Whyte and Anthony Joshua in 2018.
When looking back at the two matches Parker was able to win, he showed a lot of grit to let Joshua & Whyte get the better of him.
In a positive sign, Parker was much more proactive in his final game against Derek Chisora last December, beating him and coming close to scoring by knockout multiple times. .
“This was the first press conference that I attended, which was quite heated. Normally, it’s pretty calm and everyone is respectful, but since this fight took so long to make, there was a lot of frustration in the air,” said Joseph Parker. talkSPORT about the fight against Joe Joyce.
“I am 100% myself when I join this fight. I’m going to have a great camping trip,” Parker said. “How am I going to beat Joe Joyce? I will break him. They said, ‘What if you throw a punch that doesn’t affect him?’
“I said, ‘Listen, even if it takes one or ten, I’m going to break him down to the torso and head and get him out of there.‘He has plans to take me out there too, but we’re both very durable with nice chins.
“I think I also have a very good motive. So I’m excited for this challenge. I see it as a big challenge. He’s a great fighter and has accomplished a lot with a good amateur pedigree behind him, but here I am. I will give everything I have, and I believe I belong at the top,” Parker said.
