There was a tense moment during Joe Joyce and Joseph Parker’s press conference on Wednesday, when Parker confronted a member of Joyce’s management team midway through the interview and grilled him over previous comments.
Shane Watson of S-Jam boxing was interviewed by YouTube channel Professional boxing fan when the New Zealand gate collapsed on the scene and left Watson dead on the spot.
“You said a lot of crap. Go on – what did you say? You are saying a lot of crap. “
Watson, who looked shaken by Parker’s intrusion, tried to defuse the situation by saying that he was simply trying to create hype for the fight.
“We’re all talking crap – it’s boxing isn’t it, it’s all about the hype?”
“That’s what people do – managers, coaches, warriors.”

Parker didn’t seem particularly impressed by the answer, but ended up treating the confrontation as a joke as the atmosphere turned particularly tense.
It is believed Parker was unhappy about comments from Watson regarding a session with Congolese heavyweight boxer Martin Bakole, with the S-Jam chief executive hinting Parker was disqualified.
Thankfully for everyone involved in the fight – and Watson in particular – Parker kept his cool first and tried to express his anger with just his words.
