With the 2022 American Music Awards (AMAs) canceling Chris Brown’s Michael Jackson honor, Breezy has recently been at the center of the conversation. Although many called for Chris’s cancellation because of past wrongdoing for many people — including stars like Rihanna, Karrueche Tranand kehlani—Jordin Sparks supported.
Jordin wants everyone to focus on Breezy’s talent—NOT his past
TMZ caught up with Sparks in New York City earlier this week and asked about her stance on the situation.
After pointing out that people “like to ask [her] about Chris,” possibly because they recorded “No Air” together, Jordin says he really should be at the AMAs.
“We love Chris. He should have been there.”
The interviewer then asked Jordin whether Breezy’s critics should “move on from what happened” in his past. In contrast, the female singer shared that she thinks the conversation should focus on his talent rather than his past mistakes.
“Honestly, I think it shouldn’t even be a conversation anymore. It’s about his talent—they shouldn’t have canceled the show. That’s how I feel about it.”
Sparks continued, adding that everyone—especially Chris—should have the opportunity to “grow and learn” as a person.
“I just think that people deserve to grow, learn and be able to live their lives without any hindrance. Everyone deserves that. Especially him.”
Her Support Echos Kelly Rowland’s Stand
This sentiment is similar to a comment Kelly Rowland recently made about the situation.
While accepting Best Male R&B Artist On behalf of Chris at the AMAs, Kelly gave Breezy flowers. Notably, she also silenced noisy audiences by telling them to “relax” with their reactions.
“I want to say to Chris, thank you so much for making great R&B music, and I want to tell him thank you for being a great performer. I will accept this award [and] bring it to you. I love you. Congratulations, and congratulations to all the nominees in this category.”
Right after that, she doubled down on her stance in a conversation with TMZ.
Like Jordin, Kelly firmly believes that Chris should be allowed to grow as a person. The “Kisses Down Low” singer also said that Breezy, like every other human being, “deserves grace.”
“I believe grace is very real and we all need a dose of it. And before pointing the finger at anyone, we should realize how grateful we are for every moment that we have…
I just think the important thing is people, we are human. We all need to be forgiven for whatever we may be doing, whatever we’re thinking. We are all flawed in some way and grace is real. We are human, and everyone deserves grace and time.
