John Shaw, husband of Biocon executive chairman Kiran Mazumdar Shaw, died Monday at the age of 73.
Shaw, a former Biocon vice president, is being treated at a private hospital in Bengaluru, where he died on Monday, company officials said.
He has been being treated for cancer for some time.
An official said: “It is with deep sadness that we inform you of the passing of John Shaw, husband of Kiran Shaw and former Vice President of Biocon this morning.
Kiran Shaw lost his mother Yamini Mazumdar, also a businessman, to cancer in June this year.
A Scotsman and Indophile, John Shaw led textile manufacturer Madhura Coats before joining Biocon in 1999, where he served as vice president and non-executive director for over 22 years, before retiring. in July 2021.
