John Legend shared the truth on Instagram after Donald Trump made comments about Haitian immigrants eating livestock during his first presidential debate with Vice President Kamala Harris.

However, Legend explains that immigrants move to Ohio in search of opportunity.

“The bottom line is these people come to Springfield because there are jobs for them and they are willing to work,” musician said.

The award-winning singer stressed that people should show “patience and grace” to Haitians as they adapt, and he also addressed Trump’s comments about their eating habits.

“Nobody eats cats, nobody eats dogs. We all just want to live, grow and raise our families in a safe and healthy environment. Let’s love each other,” Legend continued.

Here’s What Trump Said About Haitian Immigrants at Presidential Debate

Trump’s baseless claim that Haitian immigrants in Ohio eat dogs and cats has sparked millions of reactions across the country.

“They’re eating dogs, people who come here, they’re eating cats. They’re eating the pets of the people who live there, and that’s what’s happening in our country, and it’s a shame,” Trump said in response to a question about immigration.

NBC News Donnie’s outlandish claim reportedly prompted a response from Springfield police and Springfield Mayor Rob Rue. Mayor Rue dismissed the complaint, stating that the city had no documented cases of immigrants eating livestock.

“Rumours like this take away from real issues like concerns about housing, needed resources for schools and our overwhelmed health care system,” Mayor Rue explained.
