US President Joe Biden pardoned nearly 1,500 people, the largest number ever in a single day.
“The President is pardoning nearly 1,500 individuals who were placed under house arrest during the Covid-19 pandemic and who have successfully reintegrated into their families and communities,” the White House said in a statement. He is also pardoning 39 individuals convicted of non-violent crimes.”
Biden promised to take “more steps in the coming weeks.”
The move comes less than two weeks after Mr. Biden pardoned his son Hunter for gun and tax-related crimes.
