Jill Scott: The female legend of the British team retires at the age of 35 | Football news
Jill Scott, England’s second tallest women’s team player, has announced her retirement from football at the age of 35.
The decision comes after the midfielder featured in England’s Euro 2022-winning squad last month.
Scott made 161 appearances for the Lionesses and scored 27 goals, while also winning the Women’s Super League and four Women’s FA Cups.
Scott said in Player Tribune: “I may be saying goodbye to football, but we’ll make this a celebration. No sad faces!! We had too much fun for any tears.
“Imagine, if you told me I would play for England for 16 years?
“If you told me I would live to see 90,000 people gather at Wembley Stadium for the women’s European final? And that I would play in it? Impossible.”
