Police said the defendant took a selfie with his head cut off
Khunti (Jharkhand):
A 20-year-old tribal man beheaded his 24-year-old cousin over a land dispute and the accused’s friends took a selfie with the decapitated head in the Khunti district of Jharkhand, police said today. Monday.
The incident happened recently in the Murhu area.
Six people, including the main defendant and his wife, were arrested on Sunday based on the FIR filed by the father of the deceased Dasai Munda on December 2.
In the FIR, the 55-year-old said his son Kanu Munda was home alone on December 1 because others had gone to work in the fields. Upon returning home in the evening, the villagers told the complainant that his nephew Sagar Munda and his friends had kidnapped his son. After unsuccessful attempts to track down Kanu, his father filed an FIR the next day.
A police team led by Khunti Police Amit Kumar has been formed to arrest the accused.
Chudamani Tudu, officer in charge of Murhu police station, said that after arresting the accused, the body was found in Kumang Gopla forest and the head was 15 km away in Dulwa Tungri area.
The officer said that the accused took selfies with their heads severed.
Tudu said five mobile phones, including those of the deceased, two bloodied sharp weapons, an ax and an SUV were seized.
The official added that a long-standing feud between the family of the deceased and the accused over a piece of land is believed to be the reason behind the beheading.
