Ranchi:
The Chief Minister of Jharkhand, Hemant Soren, has been subpoenaed by the Department of Law Enforcement during a money laundering investigation related to an alleged mining scam in the state.
Hemant Soren has been asked by the investigative agency to join the investigation tomorrow at their regional office in Ranchi.
The ED had earlier arrested an aide to Minister Pankaj Mishra and two others in this case. The arrest came after investigators carried out raids across the state in July and seized Rs 11.88 crore from Mr. Mishra’s bank account.
In its indictment, the ED claims that Pankaj Mishra, Hemant Soren’s political representative, “controls” the illegal mining business in Prime Minister Barhait’s constituency through accomplices.
An indictment was filed against Pankaj Mishra and his two aides – Bachhu Yadav and Prem Prakash.
ED, which is tracking some traces of some “criminal proceeds” generated from alleged illegal mining in the state, has seized Rs 37 lakh so far in two separate cases separate.
