Denver Broncos wide receiver Jerry Jeudy was arrested Thursday and charged with tampering with a second-degree felony with a domestic violence enhancer, the Arapahoe County Sheriff’s Office said.

The 23-year-old is being held in the national prison with no bond and will remain in prison until he meets the judge.

Jeudy’s arrest relates to an incident involving the mother of his one-month-old daughter, who told a deputy that Jeudy had left their newborn baby’s wallet and medical papers in the car. his at their home so she can’t reach them.

Police Chief Tyler Brown said at a news conference that Jeudy was cooperative during his arrest and that there was no physical violence involved in the incident. He said Jeudy will be held overnight and will appear before the judge on Friday morning.

Sheriff spokeswoman Ginger Delgado said domestic violence intensifiers are added to cases where the victim is someone who has had or had an intimate relationship with the defendant.

“Because of the domestic violence booster, Jeudy cannot be released until he appears before a judge,” she said.

Brown, who called the allegation a very low-level misdemeanor, said he called the press conference to clarify several points, including the absence of physical violence involved.

“The second part of this is an intensification of domestic violence and I know the word violence means physical contact. I can tell you specifically that there was no physical contact between Mr. Jeudy and a female side in this investigation. It’s only related to property,” Brown said.

“There was no property damage,” the sheriff added. “All that happened was there was an allegation that the property was being withheld and deputies determined that there was enough probable cause to make an arrest.”

Jeudy has played two seasons with the Broncos since they picked him in the first round (15th overall) of the 2020 NFL Draft out of Alabama. He played 10 games (starting five) last season while spraining his high ankle and was on the COVID-19 roster.

Jeudy has caught 90 passes of 1,323 yards and 3 touches in 26 games (19 starts).
