JD Vance, Haunted by Strangers’ Reproductive Decisions, Says Childless Teachers ‘Bother’ Him
As you may have heard, vice presidential candidate JD Vance was strangely and creepily obsessed with whether people had children. Among other things, he called women who did not have biological children “cat without children” (Being a stepfather obviously doesn’t count.) He declared that childless Americans are “more sick” than Americans who have children, and that they make the United States “less mentally stable.” He said that anyone who does not have children does not have “direct shares” in the country. At the same time, he proposed that people should stay in violent marriages for the sake of their children, quoting his grandparents—one of them tried to kill the other—is a prime example of this.
So it’s really no surprise to learn that the Ohio senator has also had deeply offensive words about teachers and whether or not they have children.
In a recording from 2021, published by Heartland Signal, Vance is heard saying at a Center for Christian Virtue forum: “A lot of left-wing leaders, and I hate to talk about this privately, but they are people who don’t have children who are trying to brainwash the minds of our children, and that really disorients me and really upsets me. [American Federation of Teachers president] Randi Weingarten…she doesn’t have any children. If she wants to brainwash and destroy the minds of children, she should have some children of her own and leave us alone.”

In a statement provided to Axios, Taylor Van Kirk, vice presidential candidate spokesman, speak There are “many wonderful teachers across the country” whom Vance’s remarks were not directed at. The statement went on to say: “There is no greater threat to America’s children than the left-wing indoctrination being imposed on our schools by elites like Randi Weingarten, with the support of Kamala Harris And Tim Walz.” (Walz, by the way, is a former teacher and soccer coach, whose former players sing his praise.)
In response to Vance’s recent comments, Weingarten wrote on X: “J.D. Vance’s comments are sad and insulting to millions of modern families, and school teachers including Catholic nuns, none of whom should be targeted for their family decisions.” She then speak “It seems that Vance lacks the empathy gene—thankfully, he is not a teacher. He does not understand that you do not have to be a parent to care about our children, our neighbors, our communities, and our country…. If he had spent time representing Ohio, for example, Vance would have seen this work done from Cleveland to Medina to Toledo to New Lexington to Cincinnati. Teachers want what children need. I am fortunate to be a mother through marriage, but that has no bearing on whether any of us care about children. This week, as teachers reach into their pockets to pay for school supplies and welcome children and parents into their classrooms, we should all be celebrating the hope and promise of a new school year, not ruining it with rude, ridiculous comments like Vance’s. Vance should be spending his energy helping educators and school staff support students.” Instead, he is making it harder for teachers to teach and harder for children to learn.”
