The captain won 27-24.

Casual fans can’t be blamed for not knowing Watson’s name before Thursday’s heroes. The Washington State Cougars product fell into the seventh round of the 2022 NFL Draft, when Kansas City picked him with the 243rd pick.

One can expect the Justin Herbert QB Charger to test Watson soon and often. Watson said through his post-game comments that he took care of that before the game even started.

Watson confidently explained: “I woke up knowing that I would be chosen, to be honest,” Grant Gordon of the NFL’s website. “I just knew that, being in the seventh round, having the first start, I was going to have to test a lot and soon, and I just felt like I was going to hit one today, and that’s what happened. . I was surprised. I still knew I was going to get one, but obviously I was surprised when it happened.”

Gordon added that NFL Research shows Watson’s score as the longest Q4 encounter by a rookie in league history.

It was also the one that raised the Chiefs to a 2-0 record. They will have more time to prepare for the Great War of Indianapolis on September 25.
