Horse of the Year in Japan Zenno Rob Roy (Jpn) (Sunday Silence – Roamin Rachel, by Mining) passed away of heart failure on Friday morning, www.tospo-keiba.jp.com reported. The 2004 Japan G1 Cup champion, who was standing at the Murakami Kinya Ranch, was just 22 years old.

Dark Bay is a “cool horse, walking with dignity like when racing,” owner Zenno Management said on Facebook. “The diagnosis is that the heart muscle is degraded due to aging. Last night [Sept. 1]the stallion lay down to sleep normally, but could not get up [this morning]. He then said goodbye to this world without suffering.”

Raised by Shiraoi Farm, Zenno Rob Roy was coached by Kazuo Fujisawa and owned by Kumiko Osako throughout his racing career. From 20 appearances, he has won seven, keeping his place in the Japan Cup. The stallion also claimed two races later promoted to International Group 1 positions – Arima Kinen and Tenno Sho (Fall), while also earning north of $10.4 million.

As of now, Zenno Rob Roy has left behind 26 black category winners, 17 at group level. His progeny were raised by G1 heroine Yushun Himba, Saint Emilion (Jpn), and Group 2 Trailblazer (Jpn) double winner, who finished fourth in the 2012 GI Breeders’ Cup. His daughter created eight stake winners (five groups), among them Group 2 scorers Ask Wild More (Jpn) (Kizuna {Jpn}) and Divine Force (Jpn) (Workforce) {GB}).

In addition to GI actress Ballerina H. providing Roamin Rachel, Zenno Roy Roy is a half-brother to Darling My Darling (Deputy Minister) who won the shares and was dual rated at Class I, the dam of the two. Winners are graded by GI Alcibiades S. Paradise Love (Malibu Moon) winner. He also comes from the same female family as American double champion and five-time Tier I heroine Indian Blessing (Indian Charlie).
