Japan Charts: Mario Kart Accelerates Back into Top 3 as Switch Retains Lead
After last week’s new releases, this time around Japan’s chart is a little less surprising (thanks, Famitsu Magazine).
There’s a newcomer at the top, the intriguingly titled visual novel Hokkaido Serial Murder Case: The Disappearance in Okhotsk – Memories in Ice, Tearful Statuettes sold 20,919 copies in its first week of release. Astronomy bot once again the PS5 represented this week, retaining second place with an additional 8,882 units sold and Mario Kart 8 Deluxe Get the final spot on the podium — of course.
Elsewhere, it’s a very predictable picture, with things like Nintendo Switch Sports, Minecraft And Animal Crossing: New Horizons showing their longevity as always. Hey, good job. Strong Professional Baseball 2024-25 still holding on in the top 10!

Hardware sales were similar for the week, as Sony’s PS5 price increase in Japan once again led to a drop in console sales profits.
The OLED Switch remains ahead of its competitors, selling 34,250 more units this week, with the Lite following suit with 11,570. Meanwhile, the PS5 remains in third place after selling 8,254 more units.
