Janibek Alimkhanuly vs Danny Dignum for the provisional 160-lb WBO title

Via Jim Calfa: Janibek Alimkhanuly and Danny Dignum will fight tonight for the interim WBO middleweight title in a 12-round bout at Resorts World Las Vegas, Las Vegas. The battle pass will start at 8pm ET LIVE on ESPN+.

Olympian Janibek 2016 (11-0.7 KOs) said he would “play” with Dignum (14-0-1, 8 KOs) and not play hard, but apparently, that’s not going to happen.

There’s so much going on online, and this is an opportunity for Janibek to introduce himself to many U.S. boxing fans who have never seen him fight before.

Janibek is a giant puncher with strength and a lot of skill that goes with that. In the amateur category, Janibek fought for Kazahstan and is a huge talent.

In Janibek’s last two fights, he knocked out Hassan N’Dam and Rob Brant. Janibek’s fight on Saturday against 30-year-old British boxer Dignum was another step forward in his career.

If Janibek can claim the interim WBO middleweight title, he could be elevated to full champion if Demetrius Andrade decides not to return to the tournament.

In the feature round, former WBO super featherweight champion Jamel Herring (23-3, 11 KOs) will face Jamaine Ortiz (15-0-1, 8 KOs) in the 10th round at lightweight.

Herring, 36, was about to lose to Shakur Stevenson in the 10th round last October in a disappointing loss in Atlanta.

“When they came in, he and his cousin asked me, ‘There’s a coach Buddy McGirt,’ and I said, ‘I know Buddy,’ Janibek manager Egis Klimas said. Top boxing when talking about how he connected Janibik Alimkhanuly with coach Buddy McGirt.

“I called Buddy and said, ‘We have a guy who wants you to look at him, and they want to look at you,'” Klimas continued. “They start training, and they love it.”

“That’s right, when he came in and started boxing, I said, ‘This kid got it,’” McGirt said. “He didn’t look in the mirror to see what he was like. He got into the ring and started boxing.

“He started boxing like he was fighting someone like an old school boxer,” said McGirt.

“The language we speak doesn’t matter much,” Janibek said when asked about how to communicate with McGirt when they don’t speak the same language.

“Our skill and our love for boxing, that’s what holds us together because boxing is what we love. It’s our way of communicating,” Janibek said.

McGirt said of Janibek: “My boxing moves represented what I wanted to do, and he picked it up right away. “I learned, ‘Azante,’ move the head. When I got down, I just said, ‘body’, and he knew ‘body’. McGirt said.
