James Wiseman in rehab: Mom saw me cry

James Wiseman has missed the entire 2021-22 season because of a severe right knee injury, but now he is poised to make an impact for the Warriors.

Wiseman has been through a lot since the Warriors put him in #2 in the 2020 NBA Draft. The 21-year-old recently told me. Democratic Party Press in Santa Rosa, California, about his difficulty in rehab.

“I went through a lot of low moments. Some days I don’t feel it, some days I can’t exercise because the spirit isn’t there, but I just find a way to get through it every day… even when I’m going through emotional breakdowns and many things.

It was hard for me and for my whole family, for my mother to see me and shed tears. “

The physical aspect of basketball was only part of the reason Wiseman went down. He also fought and conquered mental obstacles. Now he has a new passion for the game.

“It really lit a fire inside me,” Wiseman said of rehab. “It really made (my love for the game) better because I missed the game so much it just made my ambition grow or become stronger.”

Wiseman has shown promise during his rookie season, averaging 11.5 points and 5.8 rebounds in 21.4 minutes in 39 games (27 appearances). Now he’s ready to prove why the Warriors believe in him.
