James Gunn continues to shoot down baseless DC Studios rumors

New DC Studios co-CEO James Gunn has dismissed another unfounded rumor about who will play Superman next when Henry Cavill leaves the role.
Posting on Twitter, Gunn responded to unfounded speculation that Jacob Elordi (The Kissing Booth) could play the next Superman. Gunn said, “My thought is that no one has been cast as Superman yet.”
Adding some more background and clarity, Gunn said casting a new Superman will come when the script is “completed or nearing completion.” And in the case of the next Superman movie, this hasn’t happened yet.
Fans eager for more news about the next Superman movie will feel at ease. While DC is planning to announce “a few things” in the “not long” future, Gunn said, casting for the next Superman won’t be among them.
My thoughts are that no one has been cast as Superman yet. Casting, which almost always happens to me, will happen after the script is complete or near completion, and it doesn’t. We’ll announce a few things shortly, but picking Superman won’t be among them. ♂️ https://t.co/2SGWV2RSI7

In 2022, Cavill announced that he will return to play Supermanand then confirmed he’s leaving The Witcher to perhaps make room for this. Not long after, however, it was confirmed that Cavill will not return to play Superman in the next projectwill focus on a younger Superman.
James Gunn will write a Superman prequel to follow a young Clark Kent during his time as a reporter for the Daily Planet, according to reports. Hollywood Reporter.
Cavill could return to play Superman again, but not yet. “In the early stages, our story will focus on the earlier part of Superman’s life, so the character won’t be played by Henry Cavill,” explained Gunn. “But we just had a great meeting with Henry and we’re huge fans and we talked about some exciting possibilities to work together in the future.”
It’s still pretty early on for the next Superman project, so there’s no word yet on the script, cast, release date, or anything else related to the film.
