Jamal Adams broke his finger in a ‘bizarre accident’ at practice

After playing two seasons ago with a dislocated left finger, the safety of the Seattle Seahawks’ Jamal Adams is now dealing with a broken middle finger on that same hand.

According to Seattle Times, Adams was injured in “a freak accident” in one of the final plays of Wednesday’s contactless practice when his finger got caught in a teammate’s mask. While Adams may have surgery after the season, he is said to be planning to return to the training ground in early August and should be ready for the team’s regular season opener.

Adams, 26, made three Pro Bowls but struggled in 2021, finishing the season with no sack and no forced fumbling. The former New York Jets safety player had 21.5 sacks and seven mandatory fumbles in his first four NFL seasons.

Earlier this year, Adams revealed that he has surgery to join his ring and middle fingers together, apart he had shoulder surgery in December 2021.

In June, the safety agency said that he hoped the season break procedures would lead to a season return in 2022.

“[I] played with an almost damn arm for two years,” Adams told ESPN last month. “The first year when I came here, I dislocated my ring finger maybe about 10 times, and the other maybe about… 12. I’m dealing with that. Not really talking. much. Let people talk about it, whatever. But it’s fine now, and they’re in trouble.”

The Seahawks acquired Adams from the Jets in a package that sends the first picks in 2021 and 2022 to New York. In 2021, Seattle signed Adams to a four-year, $72 million contract extension.
