Jake Paul wouldn’t dream of fighting with me
Carl Froch downplayed the idea of nearing retirement to face controversial boxer turned YouTuber, Jake Paul.
‘Cobra’ has expressed his distaste for Americans taking part in the sport in the past and has stated that he will face him and his brother on the same night.
While he allows for the fact that Paul is entertaining, Froch remains stuck by past remarks that Paul has no right to call himself a professional boxer.
Three of Paul’s five opponents are retired combat sports stars from the world of MMA. Despite their record of naming big names past their prime, Froch believes he won’t make it to the list of potential players.
He told Boxing Social that Paul ‘wouldn’t dream about it’.
“All I ever did was answer people who asked me about fighting Jake Paul. That’s all I did. I never called him out, because it would be ridiculous. And he would never fight a professional boxer, let alone me.
Even though I’m 45 years old and retired, he wouldn’t dream of jumping in with someone like me. And I’m not going to dive either, so that’s probably part of the deal when he’s fighting people.”
The former world champion is likely referring to the theory that Paul’s past opponents have been eliminated or stopped more easily than they should have. Americans have considered this statement ludicrous.
Paul will face Tommy Fury next – a match that Froch will tailor for entertainment value and a desire to see the British at the top – and has vowed to quell his doubts with a fight. Win another knockout.
Both have faced off in Saudi Arabia and fans can expect a lot of hype during the fight week to be hyped. box office events.
