Jaguars trade WR Laviska Shenault for Panthers

The Panthers are adding a former pick in round two to their receiver stabilization. Jaguar is sending Laviska Shenault with the NFC South team, Ian Rapoport by NFL.com tweet.

Shenault, with whom Jags attended the second round of 2020, showed lightning in Jacksonville, doing so as the team continued to shift its offensive behavior. He will have another chance to make an impression in Carolina. The Panthers have been looking more for help, despite the frenzy DJ Moore, Robbie Anderson and choose the second round of 2021 Terrace Marshall. Two seasons remain on Shenault’s rookie contract.

Carolina has been connected with widely disgruntled Jets
Denzel Mimswho was also a second-round pick in 2020. Mims’ past Matt Rhule seems to make him a reasonably suitable Panthers, but Carolina is pivoting in a different direction.

Once considered a potential first-rounder, Shenault – selected 42nd overall two years ago – battled an injury in Colorado but still caught the Jags’ attention in their final draft. between Dave Caldwell – Doug Marrone. The team has changed its attack plan twice since that draft, adding to the difficulty level for the youth. Adds a fourth plan in three years for Shenault, who will move on to Ben McAdoo’s offense.

However, Shenault has topped 600 yards in each of his two Jags seasons and has been of little use backstage. The 227-pound receiver’s top two outputs went head-to-head with the Bengals – in 2020 and ’21, followed by a 99-yard night in a narrow loss made more relevant because of Urban Meyer’s post-match decisions – but he acts as an add-on because Gardner Minshew and Trevor Lawrence. Jags, however, added more receivers this season. They gave Christian Kirk an $18 million per year deal and added Zay Jones for $8 million each shortly thereafter. The team is still recruiting veterans Marvin Jones also.

Marshall missed time due to an injury in training camp, even though he did play in Carolina’s pre-season finale. The Panthers have moved on from OC Joe Brady, who coached Marshall at LSU, and formerJustin Jefferson/Ja’Marr Chase supporting caster had difficulty as a rookie. Carolina also has formerBaker Mayfield Cleveland Goals Rashard Higgins and Shi Smith at the receiver. The arrival of Shenault further complicates matters for Marshall, but it will present Mayfield with another compelling option.
